By Rachel Nunez

Bringing life into the world is natural. It is more the information that is missing despite claims of being smart on how a new life came to existence.

Educational Toys for Toddlers

We use our wisdom to evaluate the beginning of reason applied to thinking as Thomas Paine and his writings related to his Age of Reason. We use knowledge to alter our environment, which then alters our living condition. Learning process is mainly derived home based, and the conventional classroom methods as applied teaching by mentors that equip learners the discernment to exist in any dimensional perspective the future may bring.

As time has permitted, it is necessary to focus in on key areas for study related to evolution of man. Certain futures being made probable by the present events become describable and conceivable apart from the way things actually work out.

Take for instance the manufacturing of toddler educational toys that aims to provide children an early understanding about things the easy way that develops advance logical insight at a deep level rather than just explicate the way they ordinarily think as a consequence of the revisionary effect leaning to rational creativity.

It does this in the name of adequacy to the totality of our experience, including scientific, and artistic knowledge emergent from within, creatively interacting with inherent skills and talents. In other words, the universal process of learning is strongly relational to the toys that children play, connected by either atomistic theory if not totally the holistic way.

Although this is broad enough to include specifically the type of social and cultural environment the children may be familiar with, their anthropomorphic behavior become abstract towards reception, transformation and transmission of something like energy and information from total perception gained from exposure to playing with toddler educational toys.

In our cosmic epoch, which is to say, in the modern world as we are today, people are rather more organized and coordinated in response to the demand of aggregated new technologies. The democracy of cells in the human brain makes even the most ordinary toddler preside creativity on the basis of elements educational toys present.

My observation as a parent and teacher to young learners, toddlers easily learn lessons when aided with educational toys in lieu of the traditional visual aids of words and pictures. Tangible toys that toddlers could touch and play with in school or at home promotes intellectual intensification particularly on:

•	The quality and effective extent of the reception

•	The degree of creativity or self-initiative in the transformation

•	The likely effectiveness of the transmission of ideas into the young consciousness, diversified into virtual skill or talent

Given this, there appear to be no reason why concern should not be generalized that toddler educational toys are what it takes in promoting self constituting intellectual growth of the young minds, which thereby opens the way to innovation and creativity; an instrumental value in the context of developmental action for the next generation.

By Rachel Nunez

A parent’s greatest contribution to a child’s educational growth should come before the child ever begins his formal education. Parents can leave it to the schools to teach their child to read or count or write his name. But a child’s best educational opportunities and future growth depend on the combined effort of parent, teacher, and student.

There is a world of difference in the child whose parents are actively involved in his learning, and the child who is totally left on his own. It’s a difference not only in ability, in quality of work, but also in attitude and self-image. A child’s first school is the home, so the toys that his parents select for him should not only keep him amused and occupied, but also develop his physical, mental and emotional well-being. The market for educational toys has thus been opened.

Mainly addressing the clamor for toys accepted by child psychologists, toy manufacturers have come up with a wide array of toys that promise hours of fun and excitement to the child, and at the same time, meet the requirements set by these experts.

If it is true that no one ever steps into the same river twice, it is also true that no child ever plays with the same toy twice. As the child enters each stage of growth, his play changes; and as his play changes, the toy is also transformed. Psychologists have studied the evolution and development of a child’s intellect, as pioneered by Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget, by closely observing children. They have come out with a trove of realities on how toys, educational or otherwise, affect the child’s multiple intelligences.

An interesting sidebar to these findings is the fact that toys and toy advertising have powerful effects on the ways children construct their gender identities. Girls between the ages of five to eight who are exposed to Barbie dolls feel worse about their bodies than girls exposed to dolls with more realistic physiques. Female-stereotyped toys tend to promote the most complex play in 18 to 47 month-olds. But as children grow older, their gendered stereotypes about toys grow stronger. Boys, especially, become increasingly likely to avoid playing with “girl toys,” possibly for fear of social repercussions from their peers. Thus, those fashion dolls that were created towards the teens and pre-teens segment to supposedly stimulate creativity and encourage imagination, may not really be the best educational toys because they encourage gender marginalization and desensitization. Both strongly feminine and strongly masculine toys seem to be associated with the worst aspects of gender roles: i.e., a focus on appearance in girls and violence in boys.

Toy companies, like all other businesses, aim towards making money. But unlike many other businesses, the target market of the toy industry is children who are not amply fortified with the capacity to dispute these companies’ claims or question the significance of their offers. The fact that the toy manufacturers sell directly to a key market that depends on middlemen – their parents – to purchase the products, is in itself a remarkable curiosity.

The result is an abstruse circumstance wherein toy companies contend that they are protecting the children’s purchasing rights through straightforward advertising, whereas critics argue that these companies are exploiting a defenseless population.

By Rachel Nunez

If you are a parent, doting aunt or uncle, older sibling, family friend, or do-gooder who simply wants to make a tiny tot happy, you may have experienced or are experiencing dilemmas when it comes to finding the right toys for children. There are plenty of children’s toys lined up in store shelves and neatly stacked on display tables that choosing ones that are safe, age-appropriate, enjoyable and educational can be very challenging.

Different kids have different interests, and different toys match different age groups. With a multitude of options and factors to consider, searching for the right toy can become a tedious task instead of an exciting activity. Now, where do you begin?

Toys are meant to be fun items to play with, so scouting for them must also be a fun event. Buying playthings for kids can be truly entertaining as long as you know what to look for. Take time to think about what kind of toy you wish to give a youngster. A little wisdom goes a long way when it comes to giving toys to little ones. Read on for the top three tips in finding the right toys for kids.

Tip #1: Safety always comes first.

Toys, first and foremost, must be safe for kids to play with. Consider toys that are age-appropriate so it will be easier for you to identify the different health hazards.

Toys with small, detachable parts are dangerous for very small children who might swallow and choke on them. Also, avoid giving pointed toys to small kids. Children like running around and pointed objects can cause serious accidents. While bigger children can already play with toys made of very tough materials, opt for softer, flexible toys for tiny tots.

Steer clear of toys that have harmful chemicals. Many small kids like putting things into their mouth that is why toys must always be free of poisonous substances. When a toy is coated with paint, make sure that the paint is non-toxic.

Tip #2: Think of the toy’s developmental value.

Find toys that are both entertaining and developmental. Such toys help kids improve their mental, motor, and social skills. Educational toys sharpen kids’ minds as they play and encourage them to think critically and logically. Arts and crafts help youngsters express themselves and practice their creativity. Toys for kids that involve movement, like toddler cubes and magnetic games, practice children’s motor skills.

Look for toys that teach children the value of self-reliance, teamwork and sharing. Playing is a great family bonding activity, and it becomes even more so with toys that develop children’s knowledge, attitudes, and practices.

Tip #3: Make sure you get value for your money.

Finding the right toys involves getting items that will last a long time. Go for quality instead of quantity. Look for toys that are made of durable materials that will not easily tear or break. Durable toys are great picks because they can be passed on to younger family members. Additionally, choose toys that can hold children’s interest and attention so they will be played with often.

Do not make a beeline for the most expensive toys because a heavy price tag does not always assure quality. Also think twice when hoarding toys that are on sale. Cheap toys that are made of inferior materials can get destroyed quickly and are not really bargains in the long run. Good finds are toys for kids that will give you your money’s worth.

By Rachel Nunez

The most relevant stage in learning starts from being a toddler. What baby learns during this stage will reflect throughout his growth. Toddler educational toys are the most effective tool that will cultivate their knowledge. Educational toys are entertaining. It’s the reflection of fun and laughter. Provide your child a lot of learning opportunities through wide variety of toys: Toys for bath time, toddler cubes, books, puzzles, roller coaster toys, shape sorter, soft toys stackers, wooden toys, DVDs and CDs. Widen a child’s imagination with books – they are windows to the world.
Long before your child is big enough to leaf through pages of a book or sit upright in front of a computer, he is already fit to learn – and learn he does. Toys that surround children make their own preschool.

It is no secret that babies are attracted to bright colors and toddlers are fascinated with moving objects. Parents may observe their kids’ eyes follow around a fallen cookie jar rolling on the kitchen floor or get attracted to medicine boxes and even specks of dirt on the floor they crawl on. This leads some parents to thinking that just about any toy would do. But parents can think again with the advent of the so-called educational toys.

You might ask, “What makes a toy or any object for that matter educational?” Put in another way, what makes a shape sorter different from a plain rock or a piece of milk carton? Experts say the difference lies in how that toy promotes and enhances the developmental process in young children.

With the knowledge of the normal stages of biological growth [hand-eye coordination, psychomotor skills among others], experts believe that even toys should come on a certain schedule. Toy manufacturers then spend careful effort to ensure that the design of the toy is fitted to the capabilities of its user at any given stage thus the addition of age range on toy packages. When you see the sign “Not for children below 3″ know that this beyond ensuring that hazards related to small parts in certain toys are avoided. It also says that only children 3 or above can fully utilize and make the most of the qualities of the toy design and can thus interact properly with the toy to develop certain skills such as, in the case of a shape sorter, color/shape familiarization. The goal is to allow a child to discover his capabilities and enhance them. This is a progressive process and ideally ensures that toys do not get too boring for your child. Yes, children do outgrow certain toys.

Seeing the instructional value of certain toys, one may then ask, “Who classifies toys as “educational”? Who decides the educational content or appropriateness of a certain toy for a certain age group? Independent groups of people from different backgrounds – scientists, educators, artists, librarians, parents and kids themselves make up toy evaluators. Organizations that employ evaluators choose them on the basis of their in-depth knowledge of toys coming from either a background on child development or involvement in the toy industry.

Evaluation programs among them the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, periodically hand out toy awards. Certain toys bear the label “seal of approval”. One may also find annual guides to highly-rated toys. Parents can make informed decisions on toys to purchase guided by reviews and ratings from toy experts who examine both the content of the toy or “curriculum value” as well as the skills they develop or “cognitive value”. More than just the development of the five senses, toys are judged on the basis of how they stimulate the brain and cultivate social, interpersonal skills.

In a nutshell, the basic thrust of educational toy manufacturers is that toys are teachers. Be it math, science, language or the imagination, educational toys are the best testaments that learning is definitely fun.
